Fellowship-Trained Spine and Brain Surgery

Compassionate, Transparent, and Individualized Care with Dedication to Great Patient Outcomes

Dr. Sam Haider is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon specializing in the treatment of brain tumors, spinal disorders, and complex neurological conditions using modern, minimally invasive techniques. He completed advanced neurosurgical training at nationally recognized institutions including the University of Miami—one of the highest-volume brain tumor centers in the world—and Henry Ford Health in Detroit, a fast-paced Level-1 trauma center. Over the course of his career, Dr. Haider has performed more than 2,000 neurosurgical procedures, with extensive experience in both cranial and spinal surgery.

As the first surgeon in Northern Colorado to perform minimally invasive brain tumor resections, awake tumor surgery, and carbon-fiber spinal instrumentation for spine tumors, Dr. Haider
brings modern academic-level expertise to the region while maintaining a deeply personal approach to care. He is committed to clear communication, shared decision-making, and thoughtful treatment planning. Patients value his calm, compassionate demeanor and his dedication to providing safe, individualized care that prioritizes long-term outcomes and quality of life.

My Philosophy

My philosophy of care as a neurosurgeon is grounded in partnership, trust, and thoughtful decision-making. Every patient who comes to see me brings not only imaging studies and symptoms, but also personal goals, values, fears, and expectations. My role is not simply to recommend a procedure, but to listen carefully, understand what matters most to each individual, and help guide them through complex decisions with honesty and clarity. The best outcomes occur when patients feel heard, informed, and confident that the plan reflects both
sound medical judgment and their personal priorities.

I believe strongly that surgery should never be the first answer unless it truly needs to be. Whenever possible, I emphasize conservative, nonsurgical options—such as physical therapy, targeted injections, activity modification, or observation—especially when symptoms are improving or when surgery is unlikely to provide meaningful benefit. Many patients come to me expecting to be told they need an operation; just as often, my recommendation is reassurance, education, and time. Avoiding unnecessary surgery is as important as performing technically excellent surgery.

When an operation is indicated, I use modern, precise, and minimally invasive techniques tailored to each patient, with the goal of maximizing safety, preserving neurological function, and achieving durable relief. Above all, I strive to deliver care that is compassionate, transparent, and individualized—before, during, and long after treatment—so patients feel heard, respected, and genuinely cared for.

Patients deserve a surgeon who is prepared, attentive, and fully present—someone who listens, answers questions honestly, and remains involved throughout their care, from the first visit through recovery. I had a sizable cerebellar brain tumor which was very challenging and risky to remove. Dr. Haider, despite what seems to me to be of young age and located in what might seem to me a less-than common place to find extensive experience, does have extensive experience which worked out extremely fortunate for me. Dr. Haider and his Neurosurgery staff at Banner in Greeley are top-notch. I felt great immediately coming out of surgery and recovered and able to leave the hospital in record time, less than three days, and light golfing in 10 days! And no pain really surprised me also. I am likely one of the most fortunate and I know his skills and talent made this possible – and he is a pretty good all-around guy from what I can tell. Based on my experience, | would travel great distances to access his talent.

I was found to have a difficult tumor that was risky for removal. Dr Haider was kind and patient from the very start at explaining what I had and giving me many options. Ultimately we went with surgery and he got it all out. I’m very thankful I found this surgeon during our time of need.

Lower back pain and many other treatments were unsuccessful. Dr. Haider diagnosed and performed surgery to open the hole in the vertebrae and remove some of the disk. The procedure was quick and the recovery was relatively pain free. I can’t say enough good things about the. Doctor, the process, and the outcome! Thank you doctor Haider!

I was recently treated by Dr. Sameah Haider after years of chronic neck pain and headaches along with a worsening numbness in my arms and hands. What impressed me most from the very beginning was his thoughtful, patient-first approach—unlike many specialists I’d seen before, Dr. Haider didn’t rush to recommend surgery. He conducted a thorough evaluation and reviewed my imaging in detail, taking the time to walk me through what he saw and what my options were. In addition to looking at my spine, he diagnosed me with carpal tunnel. Rather than jumping straight to an operation, he recommended a combination of physical therapy and non-medication options. It was clear he genuinely wanted to help me avoid surgery if there were other effective paths. The physical therapy provided some additional exercises that will give me relief when I have a flair up. Dr. Haider was open to questions and provided honest, clear feedback. He made it clear that surgery would be a last resort—not a first response. To me, that level of integrity, expertise, and patient care is rare. I felt heard, and not pressured. It’s reassuring to know that if I do ever need surgery, I can trust him to make that call with my best interest at heart. I recommend Dr. Haider to anyone looking for a neurosurgeon who prioritizes conservative treatment.

Dr. Haider tells it like it is. I was hurting really bad first time I saw him and he showed me the MRI and helped explain what I had and that I probably wouldn’t need surgery based on how I was already improving. We met again 6 weeks later and he was right, 90% of my symptoms continued to improve and now I know who to trust if it ever gets worse. He doesn’t rush or pressure you into surgery. Really appreciate his support
